Few tourists go this way and certainly not on bikes! This bike ride will take you through sisal, fruit and banana plantations as you head out into the bush towards Lake Jipe which borders Kenya. Skirting both Tsavo West National Park and Mkomazi National Park the cycle takes you through some of the most breathtaking scenery as you circumnavigate the North and South Pare Mountains as well as the spectacular Usumbara Mountains in the West.
Daily distances are varied with the occasional long day and you have full maintenance support (including spare bikes). We camp in local villages and where possible, primary school playing fields. We offer this phantastic bike safari for single clients and for big group with 80 100 people.

Moshi – Lake Jipe | approx. 80km We mount our bikes with the snowcapped Kilimanjaro towering above us and head southeast on clear, rural roads. proceed through small farm towns and municipalities, getting a fantastic first taste of the Tanzanian lifestyle. Lake Jipe attracts herds of zebras and a diversity of birds and is home to local crocodiles and hippos! We enjoy our dinner and camp in comfortable tents by the lake.
Lake Jipe – Same | approx. 80km Following dirt tracks southwards through a striking mountainous landscape, we pass through lush, green plains and look out for more iconic wildlife. Along with a myriad of plant life benefitting from the area’s fertile soil, we’re in for a chance of spotting gazelles, elephants and wildebeests! After a long day’s cycle, we finally reach our campsite in Same
Same – Irente Viewpoint | approx. 125km A big breakfast at camp sets us up for our toughest day of the challenge. Rugged dirt tracks lead us through charming local municipalities and up through the mountains. We finish the day with a transfer to our overnight stay at Irente Viewpoint. Here we take in dramatic cliffs and swooping valleys.
Irente Viewpoint – Muheza | approx. 114km After breakfast we Pedal up and down through more of Tanzania’s lush countryside, we skirt the spectacular West Usambaras Lushoto Mountain Reserve and take in a number of small towns. Rarely visited by tourists, passing through these communities gives us a
fantastic, authentic feel for the friendly, local culture.
Muheza – Pangani Tanga | approx. 55km We ride on dirt tracks through lush, green countryside and notice the change in terrain as we draw closer to the beach where we find our lunch spot. we transfer to our hotel in Tanga where we toast our achievement with a very welldeserved celebration dinner.
Tanga – Moshi Today we transfer by road back to Moshi (approx. 8hours) where we find our hotel for the night ahead of our flight home tomorrow.
